Nagar Rising Foundation
Nagar Rising Half Marathon is an annual event organized in Ahmednagar (Maharashtra), by the Nagar Rising Foundation. The Marathon takes place on the first Sunday of February every year in support of World Cancer Day and to spread awareness about cancer.
I'm Shounak Kharde, one of the youngest Indian and first person from Ahmednagar to finish the IronMan triathlon race which is also recognised as the world's toughest single day sports event. I started cycling around 6 years ago when I was about 14 years old just as an activity to keep myself occupied in my free time and to keep myself active. It slowly started becoming and addiction and kept challenging myself to ride longer distances every weekend. During one of my rides to Salabat Khan's Tomb ( also Ahmednagar's and Nagar Rising Marathon's main attraction) I met Sandip Joshi sir where he introduced me to triathlons. Inspired by his words about IronMan I went back home and researched more about it. That is when I decided to do an Ironman in the near future. Hence to start with the training and all through my journey to IronMan Nagar Rising Marathon and the Nagar Rising Runners have been a great source of Inspiration and Support.
